This is My Story
Nicole Johnson is a creative professional recognized for her skill in providing digital strategy and graphic design solutions for small to medium sized businesses. Her strength lies in moving people and companies to embrace 21st century social media tools that expand their brand messaging in new and different ways. Nicole is particularly talented in forging unique connections between clients’ branding needs and her proven business consulting techniques. Her natural artistry blended with lean processes and innovative thinking produce practical solutions for business that are not only sustainable, but beautiful as well.
Digital Made Simple, a strategy and design company, is the culmination of a lifetime of creative artistry and years of business consulting experience:
- as an Engineer and Organizational Change Management Consultant for a Fortune 500 company,
- with an MBA from IU’s Kelley School of Business (Strategic Management),
- and extensive track record designing and executing strategies that solve complex organizational issues and help organizations realize success is foreseeable and within reach.
Now Nicole is giving new businesses and startups the tools afforded to billion dollar corporations. She takes the complexity and intimidation out of the equation and capitalizes on the unique expertise and energy of the business owner.
Prior to founding Digital Made Simple, Nicole worked with International Paper and the DuPont Company in engineering and as a continuous improvement expert. She recognizes that small and medium sized entrepreneurs and solo-preneurs may not have the staff nor the budget for holistic digital marketing strategies that major corporations have. However smaller companies can be more agile and responsive so that they can capitalize on new and innovative approaches to digital strategy.
Nicole’s background is not typical of most of the designers that you may encounter. Although she has been an artist all of her life, she earned her bachelors of science in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University, her Masters in Business Administration from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business. Nicole gained her Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Manufacturing as well as a certification as a Supply Chain Professional from APICS. She also received significant training in adult learning principles, organizational change management, project management and people leadership techniques. So unlike many graphic designers, she also brings a wealth of business, marketing and strategy knowledge to your business projects. Nicole is well versed in a multitude of technical tools (e.g. Adobe products; Web Design, and accounting software) as well as organizational improvement practices (5S, FMEA-failure mode and effects analysis, SOSTAC Strategy Model).
Nicole also has a passion for fine arts and crafts and owns Nikki’s Art where she offers creative products such as fine art, hand painted glassware, wire-wrapped jewelry, and hand-made soaps, home and body products. To experience her creative side, please check out her Etsy site.
